Augusta Scouts fill kayak for those in need

AUGUSTA – Scouts from Augusta Cub Scout Pack 603 took part in the annual Scouting for Food with a twist this year.
This year, they sought to collect enough canned and other nonperishable food to fill a kayak for the Feed-A-Neighbor program to benefit the Augusta Food Bank. Shaw’s Supermarket hosted the event on Saturday, Oct. 15, and shoppers were eager to help those in need.
“After filling the kayak, it was a pleasure to present the Augusta Food Bank’s Executive Director, Bob Moore, with a check for $155 and the food contributions to continue Augusta’s effort to feed our hungry,” said Scout leader Jeffrey Morton. “In Scouting, we teach each Cub that they have a responsibility to help other people at all times and do a good turn daily. These aren’t just words that they recite. It is how they live their lives.”
