LEEDS – The Leeds Historical Society holiday event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Lee History Center, Route 106, in Leeds Center.
The event benefits the efforts of the historical society, and will include sale of Leeds commemorative pottery; reproductions of Leeds maps from 1858 and 1973, including a 1912 map; notecards featuring paintings of Leeds by Ian Ormon. Prints and holiday cards by Nancy Brackett, sometimes referred to as the Grandma Moses of Maine, will also be available for purchase.
LHS publications, including one about Doc Russell, one about the Leeds one-room schools, and the Leeds Anthology, a collection of articles, poems, and stories about Leeds are also available.
Pat McManus and her daughter, Tamson, will be making wreaths for purchase. There will also be a spinning demonstration by Kim Trider-Grant, who, in addition to spinning with a variety of tools, will show the process of making yarns and fabric starting with a raw sheep’s fleece. She will have hand-spun, hand-dyed yarns for sale along with hand knit items for local holiday shopping. She will also have a signup sheet for anyone interested in lessons after the holidays.
