LEWISTON – The city is starting a new tradition for the holiday season — Holiday At The Plaza will be held from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Dufresne Plaza, 72 Lisbon St., and will include family-friend activities.
“The holidays in Lewiston are a special time of year,” Mayor Carl L. Sheline said. “The lights, music, and community I feel during the season remind me how grateful I am to call Lewiston home. Having everyone together for the holidays feels extra special now that we can celebrate safely in person. I’m so excited for Holiday at The Plaza; it will be a great way to get together and share some holiday cheer.”
To accommodate the festivities, Lisbon Street will be closed from Ash Street to Main Street.
Activities include traditional and new ones, including:
Lighting the Christmas Tree and Menorah, 4:30 PM
Ice rink — free skates will be available for those who don’t have their own
Shopping at the handcrafted artisanal market and Lisbon Street businesses
Giant snow globe
Live reindeer
Take a horse-driven wagon ride
Santa photos
A professional ice carver
Music
Reindeer games, hosted by the Lewiston Parks and Recreation Dept.
Write letters to Santa
Kid holiday crafts
Food trucks and local restaurants
Hot cocoa
Fire pits
Vote for the best downtown business window decorations
There is no admission fee, and parking in the Oak Street garage, 1 Oak Street, will also be free.
