Vote Tuesday Nov 8 to keep Rep. Jack Ducharme working for you!

SKOWHEGAN – Tuesday, Nov. 8, voters across the state are going to the polls to vote for their Maine House representative for the next two years. Our country and our state are facing significant issues. We see ever increasing fuel prices, rising energy costs, shortages of products in the stores, businesses struggling to find employees, long wait times for building materials. At the same time, state of Maine revenues for the first two months of the 2022-23 fiscal year are more than $36 million over projections. Of that total, nearly 60% was personal income taxes paid. Sounds like the government is getting richer while the people are getting poorer!
The next Legislature will be developing the biennial budget for 2024-25. If we look at current spending and promises of spending made by the Legislature in the 2022-23 budget and supplemental, the next State of Maine budget will increase by nearly $800 million…IF WE DO NOTHING! That is nearly 10% folks! Maine people cannot afford this!
The federal money train is running out. There is a day of fiscal reckoning coming. It will be necessary to look carefully at all state expenses. I will use my experience on the Appropriations Committee as well as 20-plus years in banking to try to rein in unnecessary spending and get our fiscal house in order. I am asking for your vote to continue working in Augusta to make sure that your tax dollars support things that you need and not those things that politicians want.
