LEWISTON – Kailey Norcross, a registered nurse at Central Maine Medical Center’s Immediate Care Unit, is the recipient of the DAISY Award.
Norcross, of Auburn, was nominated for the award after the daughter of a patient said, “Kailey was outstanding in every way possible, and my mom absolutely adored her. On the days Kailey had my mom as one of her patients, I often found myself with a sense of comfort and relief just knowing that she was in Kailey’s care.”
“Receiving the DAISY Award is among the highest forms of validation for a nurse,” said Steve Littleson, president and CEO of Central Maine Healthcare. “By all accounts, Kailey exemplifies all of Central Maine Healthcare’s Service Standards, and our patients and this organization are very fortunate to have her as a team member.”
“We are very proud of Kailey,” said Kris Chaisson, chief nursing officer for Central Maine Healthcare. “Kailey is a recent graduate and has truly embraced and role modeled being a professional nurse in the way she cared for this family which is an inspiration for all nurses.”
The DAISY AWARD is an international recognition program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate, skillful care nurses give daily. Since 1999, the DAISY Foundation has been honoring nurses who provide above-and-beyond compassionate care to patients and families.
