Cancer Resource Center partners with Dempsey Center on classes

Oct. 72022

NORWAY – To help ease the journey through a cancer diagnosis for those living in Maine, the Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine is making Dempsey Center’s educational classes available to its clients.
Using the Dempsey Connects virtual platform, clients of the Cancer Resource Center will be able to participate in select classes at the Norway Center or virtually, from the comfort of their own home. The telecast classes will allow clients access to high-quality programs and encourage connection between those who have been affected by cancer. As with all Dempsey Center and Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine services, the telecast programs are provided at no cost.
Programs begin Oct. 28, and will be offered through December. They include those on managing treatment side effects, support after cancer treatment, what to eat during treatment (with recipes), and more.
The classes are in addition to CRC’s normal slate of in-person and virtual activities. Programs are open to anyone affected by cancer, including caregivers. Masks are required for in-person events.
The center has added a Chair Yoga class in Bridgton, in addition to its Norway and Harrison weekly sessions. Classes at the new location, Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot St., are 9 to 10 a.m. Friday.
Other in-person lasses include strength and balance, yoga, craft and chat, and more.
Weekly virtual classes include meditation, chair yoga, mindfulness and more.
Monthly activities, including crafts, drum circle, wellness share and more are also scheduled.
CRC also holds weekly public drop-in hours 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and other weekdays by appointment. Masks are required.
