AUGUSTA – Catholic Charities’ SEARCH/RSVP program is looking for volunteers in Kennebec and Somerset counties willing to open their heart and hands to an area senior.
Volunteers spend a little time every week with homebound residents who are 60 or older, helping them with companionship, groceries and doctor visits, offering phone reassurance and other support.
Sammee Quong answered the call in 2014 and became a volunteer. She was matched with Loraine, and eight years later they remain great friends and enjoy each other’s company.
A couple of hours a week can make a difference in someone’s life.
SEARCH stands for Seek Elderly Alone, Renew Courage and Hope; RSVP stands for Retired Senior and Volunteer Program.
