TURNER — The North Turner Community Clothing Center needs new windows and is asking for help from the community. Most of the original glazing and frames leak water and cold air, and one window has already been replaced with plywood.
Frequented by individuals of all ages, the center previously asked for small donations for items; however, the director and volunteers recently decided to offer all the clean donated clothing at no cost to any customers. Donations of clothing and financial support are always welcome.
The center has partnered with the town to raise special funds for 11 windows and a new door; the cost is estimated at $10,000. The center is managed by members of North Turner Union Presbyterian Church, 58 Howes Corner Road, a short walk from the North Turner post office.
The clothes center is open for customer visits 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Volunteers are also there on Tuesday mornings to accept and sort clothing donations.
Anyone interested in financially donating toward this worthy cause can do so via the town office. if donating bottles and cans, take them to Coach Terry’s Redemption Center, 8 Tidswell Road, at the intersection with Route 4.
