Boyce to be regular Turner church speaker, reception to be June 18

TURNER — The Rev. Albert Boyce will be the regular parish speaker at the First Universalist Church, the church announced May 24.

Residents of Turner and surrounding communities are invited to welcome Boyce at a reception at the church, 450 Turner Center Road, following worship on Sunday, June 18.

Boyce began his ministry serving Assemblies of God and Baptist parishes in New England, before attending Harvard University’s Divinity School. He has since transferred his credentials to the Unitarian Universalist Association, and served parishes in Richford, Vt.; Miami, Fla.; Plainfield, N.J. and Valdosta, Ga. He also earned a masters in psychology/counseling, and then a Ph.D. in psychology, which opened doors for him to serve in the mental health and social justice arena and teach at the university level, according to a news release from the church.

Boyce serves as chaplain for Volunteers of America and Androscoggin Healthcare and Hospice, and “embraces the opportunity to serve this historic parish and the voice of compassion for all people, and love of God, which the Unitarian Universalist faith has espoused since the formation of our nation,” the release said.
Boyce lives in Vassalboro with his husband, Andrew, and dog, Luc, where they can be found entertaining local clergy, neighbors, friends and family, especially their children and grandchildren.
