Bringing the track hardware back up the river

Athletes from Waterville and Winslow brought some hardware back up the river, notching big wins in the USATF State Track Meet held Aug. 13, at Cony High School in Augusta. Eben Haviland, 10, of Waterville captured the state championship title in the boy’s 9/10 800 meter race. Winslow’s 9/10 team won the state title in the 4×100 relay. Members are, from left, Dominic Akoa, Trafton Nadeau, Cooper Grant and Zachary Katz. Winslow’s 11/12 boys team also won the state title in the 4×100 relay. It was the second year in a row that Winslow won the race in that age group. They finished with a time of 59.86. From left, Larsen Ronco, Kaiser Stewart, coach Kenneth Nadeau, Weston Pappas and Nixon Souviney. Nixon and Kaiser were also on last year’s team.
