Reeds Mill Church adding September services

MADRID – Reeds Mill Church, the non-denominational Christian “Church in the Wildwood,” will continue with its traditional summer Sunday services for the first three weeks of September this year.
The church, at 995 Reeds Mill Road, has traditionally held services at 2 p.m. Sunday in July and August. The services are led by a different worship leader each week – sometimes a pastor from another church and sometimes lay people.
The last Sunday in August is Old Home Sunday, and the church holds a potluck lunch followed by a service celebrating the church. It’s usually the final summer service. This year, the trustees of the church have decided to continue with services into September. They will follow the same format – 2 p.m. Sunday with a different leader for each. The move is an experiment “to see if the summer passion for the church can continue past Old Home Sunday,” trustees said.
Also in September, the church will bring back hymn sing after a two-year layoff, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11. Bring your flashlight, as the church has no electricity.
The Sandy River Ramblers will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25 (no service that day).
The church will also hold its traditional 10 a.m. Thanksgiving service on Thursday, Nov. 24.
The Christmas Candlelight Service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.
