TURNER — The East Auburn 12U team from Auburn Suburban Baseball Softball entered the regional final with a solid 7-1 record for the spring 2022 season, taking on the Green Grenades from Durham (8-2) in the championship game.
East Auburn emerged with a convincing 16-1 victory June 23 at the Calvin Willis Memorial Sports Complex on Cobb Road. Two divisions — East and West — included 12 teams from area communities, part of the Androscoggin Youth Softball league.
The team from Auburn — sponsored by East Auburn Community Unit — plays its games on Sweetser Field at the Auburn Suburban Baseball Softball complex. East Auburn is coached by Mary Beth Galway and Brian LeBlanc.
The Grenades play their regular season home games at Eureka Field in Durham and were sponsored by Dotens Construction in Freeport. The team is coached by Ashley Brown and John Jenusaitis.
