KEWISTON — Musician Marc Black brings history to life through the songs of 1950s and 60s in his Boppa Chua program, hosted at the Lewiston Public Library, at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 2.
The free public program will take place in Callahan Hall at the library, 200 Lisbon St., and is directed towards adults though all ages may participate.
New York Blues Hall of Fame inductee Black will guide the audience through an evening of song and storytelling, with both favorites from the era, and some more obscure, as well as a slide show.
Black was inducted into the New York Chapter of the Blues Hall of Fame in June 2014, and has performed and recorded with Art Garfunkel, John Sebastian, Rick Danko, Richie Havens, Taj Mahal and Pete Seeger, among others. He was chosen to play at one of the Levon Helm’s Midnight Rambles and was also named Folk Artist of the Year on ABC Radio.
While he was still in high school, his band, the Blades of Grass, reached the top 40, and performed longside the biggest acts of the day including the Doors, Van Morrison and Neil Diamond. Black also won the American Library Association Award for Best Children’s Album of the year for his production of American Children.
