Hiram Historical Society has antiques assessment, more, on tap

HIRAM – The Hiram Historical Society is holding an Afternoon of Antiques Assessments fundraiser from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Libby’s Antiques, 30 Main St., Cornish.
For $5, Kathy Libby will assess the value of keepsakes and antiques. Call 207-615-4390 for an appointment
Proceeds from the admission fee will go to the historical society, which collects, preserves and promotes the heritage of Hiram and surrounding area. The society runs the Great Ossipee Museum, 20 Historical Ridge, which is open May to October, with rotating exhibits. Current exhibits include log drives, farming, and costumes of the gay 90s and roaring 20s.
A recent grant from the American Historical Association Grants to Sustain and Advance the Work of Historical Organization Program, made possible with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, will allow creation of a video tour of historic features in Hiram.

Drinking Through New England History, by June O’Donal, author of the Fryeburg Chronicles series of historical fiction, 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept 10, Great Ossipee Museum.
Exhibit of Watercolor Paintings of Hiram’s Treasured Historic Features, by artists Mary Cobb and Mary Burnell, Oct. 7-9, location to be determined.
Trash Can Turkey Roast, noon Saturday, Oct. 15, Great Ossipee Museum.
