Silhouette Project to be on display in Lewiston’s Veterans Memorial Park May 27

May. 192017

LEWISTON — The Silhouette Project will be on display beginning 9 a.m. Saturday, May 27, in Veteran’s Memorial Park. The exhibit includes 22 military silhouettes, each bearing the name of a veteran lost to suicide. It coincides with the city’s Memorial Day parade, which is Saturday, May 27, and finishes in the park.

The Silhouette Project was started by Linda Lajoie after she lost her son Dustin, a veteran, to suicide in December 2014. The project is an effort to raise awareness about the suicide risk faced by military veterans and spread the word about reasons available to support veterans and their families and to underscore veteran’s strength and resilience.
