Cancer Survivor Day reception is June 5

NORWAY – The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine will host a National Cancer Survivors Day reception at McLaughlin Garden and Homestead, 97 Main St., South Paris.
It will be the first in-person reception celebrating the day since 2019. The reception will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 5.
“Earlier this spring, McLaughlin Gardens generously offered their barn and gardens as a place where survivors, along with their caregivers and families, could safely mingle and celebrate National Cancer Survivor’s Day,” said Mallory Brooke Cash, vice president and development chair of the center’s board. “We have missed rejoicing in survivorship face to face and hope to return to a full day of celebration in 2023.”
Guests are invited to sign in at the barn for light refreshments, then to walk through the gardens at their leisure.
The mission of the Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine, 59 Main St., is to ensure that no one faces cancer alone. Anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life – is a cancer survivor according to the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation. In the United States alone, there are more than 15.5 million people living with a history of cancer.
