Local artist’s paintings on display at Norway Memorial Library

NORWAY – The artwork of Norway artist Suzanne Thurlow is on display this spring at Norway Memorial Library, 258 Main St.
“Heartfelt Art” features watercolor and acrylic originals and giclée prints. Thurlow grew up in Randolph, and her love of art and writing ignited during summer school and visits with her aunt Marjorie Sewell at Haystack Mountain School of the Arts. There she observed artists at work in beautiful wooded surroundings.
After painting privately for many years, Thurlow exhibited her work at St. Joseph College in Standish, where she was employed. Professor Susan Henderson said, “Suzanne’s style is her own. She leans a little toward the impressionists. Her art communicates a message. The feeling and tone remind one a little of Chagall in the somewhat whimsical mix of joy and sorrow into a whole, strong beauty.” In addition to painting, Thurlow designs and paints greeting cards and writes verse.
Her work is available to view when the library is open – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday, noon to 5 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
