Spruce Mountain shortstop Reece Davis makes it safely to first during the second inning of a May 9 game against Dirigo at Dixfield (above). Davis later stole second. The Spruce Phoenix won, 3-2, as pitcher Isaac Parker chalked up 13 strikeouts, allowing just two hits, with RBIs from Jayden Perreault and Garret Hunt and double from Elie Timler. The win put Spruce’s record at 5-2, and dropped Dirigo to 3-3. BELOW, Spruce Mountain pitcher Jayden Pingree winds up for a pitch to a Dirigo batter. Pingree led the Phoenix to a 6-3 win, upping their record to 2-5. She and sister Jasmine (behind her, at third base), contributed RBIs as did shortstop Leah Burgess and firstbaseman Makinlee Holt.
