OXFORD — Oxford Hills Crhistian Academy will perform “The Death and Life of Sherlock Holmes,” at 6 p.m. Monday, May 23, at Praise Assemblies of God Church, 89 Congress St., Rumford.
Junior Owen Wheeler will star as Sherlock Holmes, junior Adrian Stickney is Dr. Watson and Righam Pelletier will play Arthur Conan Doyle. Additionally, 11th-graders Lily Gelinas, Noelle Reynolds and Olivia Sanborn, 10th-graders Braiden Roy and Joel Gelinas, and ninth-graders Andrew Clark and Brianna Rouillard make up the rest of the cast. Michelle Wheeler, teacher and drama director at the academy, is director.
“The Death and Life of Sherlock Holmes” is a mystery within a mystery. The action adventure by Suzan Zeder weaves together characters and incidents from some of Doyle’s best-loved stories and gives them a new twist, as the world’s greatest consulting detective matches wits with Doyle’s most cunning criminals, including Col. Sebastian Moran, Dr. Grimsby Roylott and, of course, Prof. Moriarty.
Nonstop action carries the plot through murder and mayhem right up to a stunning climax at the very edge of Reichenbach Falls as it explores the complex love-hate relationship between Sherlock Holmes and the man who created him.
The play is produced by special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing Co. Inc., of Woodstock, Ill.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and children.
