LEWISTON – The Kiwanis Club of Lewiston-Auburn will celebrate 100 years of area kids benefiting from Kiwanis support, with infant safety kits, scholarships, books, classroom supplies, and in many other ways.
The club’s 100th Anniversary Big Celebration will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the VFW Hall, 588 Minot Ave. from 5 to 9 p.m. The deadline to order tickets is May 12.
The club was chartered May 19, 1922.
“We hope to provide a celebratory dinner and share the history of our club, with a focus on the literally hundreds of lives that have felt a positive impact from the Club’s efforts,” said Sarah Glynn, head coordinator for the event. “Our club also sponsors four Key Clubs, at Leavitt Area High School, Lewiston High School, Lisbon High School and St. Dominic Academy, all to help our community’s kids thrive, prosper and grow. Kids in our community need Kiwanis. We step in and provide support when no one else is doing so, or when other funding sources may not be available.”
The 100th Anniversary celebration event is open to the public and is a way for the club to showcase its projects and attract new members. Tickets are $25. Send payment and return address to Andy Choate, 70 Rachel Boulevard, Lewiston, ME 04240.
