MONMOUTH — American Legion Post 204 will host a Memorial Day parade and ceremony that will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, May 29, at the North Monmouth Veterans Monument between the pond and the Textech mill.
Immediately after, the parade will form up at Cumston Hall on Main Street, and will begin at 10 a.m. It will proceed to the to the veteran’s monument for services. Chairs will be provided for veterans who wish to attend the ceremony.
Active military personnel, reserves, retired and all veterans are invited to participate in uniform.
Debra Couture, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and representative of the American Legion Department of Maine will give a brief presentation, and the Post 204 Color Guard will fire a memorial rifle volley.
Throughout the month, members of Post 204 are distributing poppies at locations around town to commemorate Memorial Day. There is no charge, but donations are accepted toward the Legion’s scholarship, educational and other outreach programs.
