‘Faces of Founders’ movie to be presented free May 13

HIRAM – “Faces of Founders: Hiram, Maine the MOVIE,” will be shown will be shown at 6 p.m. Friday, May 13, at the Hiram Arts Center at 8 Hancock Ave.
The free presentation is a partnership of Hiram Historical Society and the Sacopee High School TV 2 Class of School Administrative District 55. In the production, the narrator presents the context of 15 founders – men, women, children – and students follow in costume in front of illustrations from the time, representing the founders, telling what it was like to live in the settlement 1774 to 1830. Professional musicians, Hiram residents, perform the music.
The project began as a community theatrical event planned for the Hiram Arts Center in May 2020 to celebrate Maine’s bicentennial. After it was canceled, the high school offered to produce a modified version with students performing, and writing scripts from the book “Faces of Founders: Hiram Maine,” by Sally Williams, president of the Hiram Historical Society (Maine Authors Publishing; June 2021).
Refreshments of the period will be served.
