LEWISTON – Registration is open for the annual Strutt your Mutt walk and Dash for Dogs 5K, both of which take place May 1.
The walk and run benefit the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society. The event starts at the GAHS, 55 Strawberry Ave. and is a casual “people” run/walk along the Androscoggin Riverside Trail; dogs are welcome, but not necessary for participation. Participating as a team through a business or with friends is encouraged. Dogs must be leashed on leads no longer that 6 feet, with no retractable leashes allowed. They must also be current on their rabies vaccine. Please don’t bring your dog if she is in heat.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. with the walk and time run both starting at 9 a.m.
Cost to pre-register for both the 5K and the Walk is $30 in advance or $35 onsite the day of the event. The money raised stays in the community and directly benefits the homeless, abandoned and abused animals at the Humane Society for their food, shelter, veterinary care and a chance at a new home.
The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society provides a safe haven for over 3,000 sick, needy, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area each year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fundraising events, such as Strutt your Mutt and the Dash for Dogs 5K and individual donations.
