NORWAY — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine is now offering in-person classes and activities, as well as a lineup of virtual ones.
Classes are open to anyone affected by cancer, including survivors and caregivers. Those attending in-person classes are asked to wear a mask.
March is the center’s month at the Oxford Hannaford Supermarket. Every time a shopper buys the $2.50 Community Bag, $1 will be donated to the center. Shoppers can also buy the reusable Community Bag on Hannaford-To-Go.
The introductory session “An Introduction to Somatic Movement,” will take place from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday, March 25, the center, 59 Winter St. Registration is not required. Learning to practice somatic movement is a great way for cancer patients and survivors to manage their ability to move as freely and pain-free as possible. Erin Girzone, owner of Good Health is a Habit, will give an overview of somatic movement. A four-week Somatic Movement workshop with Erin is being planned for May.
Weekly in-person classes include Strength & Balance for Cancer Wellness, 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Rush Fitness, 141 Western Ave., South Paris; Craft & Chat, 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the center, all supplies are provided; Chair Yoga in Harrison, 11 a.m.-noon, Wednesday, Caswell House Conservancy, 42 Main St., Harrison; Chair Yoga at the CRCofWM, 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday; Yoga Warriors for Cancer Care & Wellness (virtual offered as well), Posabilities, 15 Tannery St., 2 to 3 p.m., first four Fridays of the month.
The Men’s Support Group meets 4 to 6 p.m. the third Thursday of the month at the center. For information call Vance at 207-583-2975.
Stamping Up – Making Greeting Cards takes place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. the first Monday of every month.
Weekly virtual sessions include Monday Morning Meditation, 9:30 to 10 a.m. Monday; Virtual Chair Yoga & Meditation, 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday; Mindful-Based Stress Reduction, 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday.

Weekly drop-in hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday; hours are other weekdays by appointment. Masks are required.
