BELGRADE — Two local students performed as members of the American Choral Directors Association All Eastern Honor Choirs in Boston on Feb. 11 and 12.
Stevie Bragg, of Sidney, was selected to be a member of the 2022 All Eastern Gospel Honor Choir. Chantelle Flores, of Oakland, was selected to be a member of the 2022 All Eastern Mixed Voice Honor Choir. Both are vocal students of Pamela Rhein, of Belgrade.
“This experience changed my whole life,” Bragg said. “My singing is forever changed by all I learned from my conductor.” Her conductor was Raymond Wise, of Indiana University.”
Flores added, “All Eastern shed light on how music can be not only a connecting and emotional experience, but music can also tell stories.” She said that her conductor, Paul Rardin, of Temple University, provided many opportunities to connect with the music and the stories behind the selections.
Both girls prepared for the highly competitive auditions for months under the tutelage of Rhein, a Westminster Choir College graduate. They were overjoyed when they were notified of their selection.
“These two young ladies epitomize all that is wonderful in a young musician — poise, character, excellent work ethic, and a deep love for singing,” Rhein said. “ It was a delight watching them grow throughout the experience.”
