LEWISTON – The city’s new sledding and athletic park, Mike McGraw Park, opened Feb. 12 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and some serious sledding.
The park, on Bartlett Street, was named after Lewiston Public Schools long-time coach, teacher, friend and mentor. The naming was a culmination of the Lewiston Youth Advisory Council’s park-naming contest, and out of 39 entries, Mike McGraw Park was approved by the City Council on Feb. 1.
The celebration on Feb. 12 was organized and coordinated by Healthy Neighborhoods in partnership with the city. Speakers at the event were LYAC’s Cadence Nadeau and Healthy Neighborhoods President Ashley Medina.
