BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Easy Riders Snowmobile Club took its first club trip of the season the first week of February, when 39 members trailered their sleds to Millinocket.
The group stayed for five nights at the Baxter Park Inn, and made day trips to a variety of destinations.
“This is a great way to get to know other Club members, and if you are new to sledding, you can learn the basics from the pros,” said Bill Preis, of the club. “It was very easy to find a comfortable riding group, no matter your style of riding.”
The trip included a meet and greet pizza and sub party, a spaghetti supper with the East Branch Sno Rovers, that featured a live band and dancing, and lunch at local destinations during the rides. The trip, of course, also featured lots of sledding on the well-groomed and scenic trails around Millinocket. One popular ride was to Abol Bridge on the Golden Road., with a fantastic view of Katahdin.
“There were a few unplanned off-trail excursions that landed sleds in waist-deep snow, but everyone had a good time and nobody got hurt,” Preis said.
He said that anyone interested can check out the dozens of photos and videos on the Bridgton Easy Riders Facebook Page that show the beauty of the Katahdin area and club members enjoying the festivities.
The next BER club trip will be to Caribou ,in early March, at the next club meeting is 7 p.m. Friday, March 11, at the Bridgton Community Center.
