Author Brechlin is March 17 Great Falls Forum speaker

LEWISTON — Author and Registered Maine Guide Earl Brechlin will be the March Great Falls Forum speaker, with the topic “So, you think you know Maine? Think again!”
The free program is open to the public, and will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 17, via Zoom and streamed to the Lewiston Public Library Facebook page.
Brechlin celebrates Maine’s heritage in his book “Wild, Weird, Wonderful — Maine!,” and in his Great Falls Forum talk, he will share some of his favorites from more than 300 people, places, things and events that have made Maine what it is.
Brechlin won the John Cole Award for Maine-themed nonfiction in 2019 for “Return to Moose River,” a collection of essays celebrating the natural and human history of the Great North Woods. He is the founding editor of the Mount Desert Islander, a weekly newspaper that has repeatedly won first place for general excellence from the National Press Association, New England Press Association and Maine Press Associations. He holds more than 100 awards for news, feature writing and photography, including Maine Journalist of the Year. He is the author of nine books.
