Gray artist’s design picked for 2022 Common Ground Fair poster

UNITY — A design by Gray artist Morgan Cameron will has been chosen for the 2022 Common Ground Country Fair poster, The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association announced.
The artwork for the fair’s promotional materials is selected from contest submissions each year and the winning design is highly anticipated, MOFGA officials said.
This year’s artwork by Cameron, a painter who specializes in nature and bird subjects, is “Raven with Blackberries.” A common sight on many farms, homesteads and wherever blackberries are found, this artwork is a fitting selection for the annual celebration of rural living, MOFGA said.
Cameron said, “Not only are wild Maine blackberries one of my favorite treats, they also hold a special place in my heart. Picking them on my grandfather’s land was something he and I shared since I was very young and are some of my fondest memories. They were his favorite and thus became my favorite.” She added that ravens and blackberries go hand-in-hand for her and “felt very ‘Maine.'”
The fair is planned for September 23-25 at the MOFGA Fairgrounds, after being held virtually the past few years.
“We’re excited to share this beautiful design as part of our promotional efforts for the 2022 fair,” said April Boucher, MOFGA’s Common Ground Country Fair director. “The response to this design from community members, both near and far, has been so positive and enthusiastic. We’re thankful Morgan submitted this design to the contest as it is getting people excited for the fair and brighter days ahead,” Boucher added.
Planning is underway for the event in September, with vendor applications being accepted for many areas of the fair now. Vendors and exhibitors interested in learning more about how they can participate in the event this year visit mofga.org/the-fair.
