WINTHROP – Anna Lyon was presented with the Winthrop Maine Historical Society’s first Volunteer of the Year award on Dec. 1.
In her work on the WMHS calendar, Lyon assisted the calendar committee and worked tirelessly to produce a fantastic WMHS 2022 calendar, society officials said.
Lyon was nominated by the WMHS calendar committee and approved by the WMHS board because of her ability to create a snapshot in history for each month of the year.
“The Winthrop Maine Historical Society congratulates Anna on receiving this much deserved honor,” society officials said.
In other news, the Building Committee is still actively seeking donations for the Building Fund. The society’s goal is $150,000 for the purchase, repairs and renovations that were required prior to the grand opening last August.

Donations can also be dropped off in person at the Winthrop History and Heritage Center, 107 Main St. For information, call 207-395-5199. Calendars are also still available at the history center.
The center is open 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
