AUGUSTA – Fort Western will have free programs in conjunction with the city’s downtown Christmas Celebration in the coming weeks.
From 3 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, the fort will host a bonfire with s’mores (weather permitting) to complement the 5 p.m. fireworks, which are being launched from the East Side boat landing.
On Saturday, Nov. 28, and Sunday, Dec. 5, the fort will also host bonfires that will include a reading of “The Night Before Christmas.”
From noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, the fort will host “A Victorian Christmas at Fort Western.” There will be paper-cutting ornaments, caroling, games, goodies and stringing popcorn. There will also be a reading of “The Night Before Christmas” and hot chocolate.
Fort Western is at 16 Cony St., across the river from downtown. Admission is free, donations that benefit the fort’s education programs are welcome.
