HIRAM — The Hiram Historical Society will host author Patricia Q. Wall, author of “Lives of Consequence: Early Blacks in Kittery & Berwick in the Massachusetts Province of Maine,” in an online program at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3.
The program is free and open to the public, but registration is required at gardenlit@gmail.com.
Wall will discuss Maine’s history with slavery, which didn’t end until the Missouri Compromise in 1820, which made Maine a state.
Wall’s research explores the history of people of color before Maine became a state, and more.
