Norway library hosts Maine sporting camp talk on Zoom Nov. 9

Oct. 212021

NORWAY — Author Steve Pinkham will deliver a talk via Zoom on the history of sporting camps in Maine, hosting by the Norway Memorial Library, from 6:30-8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 9.
Maine is known for its hunting and fishing opportunities. But when did it all begin? Learn about when sporting travel to Maine began, how hunters found out where to go, and how to get there. When did the railroads get built into the woods, when did sporting camps begin, and how did they find travel books, maps, and guides to hire?
Pinkham, who has collected more than 26,000 related articles, written several books on the Maine woods, and writes a monthly historical column in the North Woods Sporting Journal, will answer these questions and more.
To join the Zoom visit networkmaine.zoom.us/j/82371780975. Call 207-743-5309 ext. 1 or e-mail norway.lib.me.us with questions.
