RRG&SA Turkey Shoot is Oct. 3

RANGELEY — The Rangeley Region Guides’ and Sportsmen’s Association will hold its 12th annual Turkey Shoot at the association’s rifle and pistol range on Sunday, Oct. 3.
Registration is from 10 to 11 a.m. no shooters can be accepted after registration closes. Competition will begin at 11 a.m.
Shooters will have the chance to win a turkey or a ham for the holidays, and may use any rifle from .17 caliber rim fire through all centerfire big-bore calibers. A novice competition will be held for shooters under the age of 16. Shooters will be staged with other shooters and will fire a single shot at a target. The shooter who comes closest to the bull’s eye for each round will win a gift certificate redeemable for a ham or a turkey. Entry fee is $4 a round or three for $10.
A .22 caliber rifle and ammunition will be provided for those without a firearm. Big bore shooters must supply their own firearms and ammunition. Eye and ear protection must be worn by all shooters. :Limited quantities are available at the range or you may bring your own.
To get to the rifle and pistol range, drive five miles west on Route 16 from Oquossoc then turn right and travel 1.5 miles north on the Morton cutoff road. The range is on the right.
