TURNER — Trustees of Leavitt Institute have announced scholarships, awards and graduation prizes for 2021, totaling more than $160,000.
Recipients include:
Bonney Fund Scholarship — $64,000 to 46 applicants.
Kilgore Fund Scholarship — One $4,000 scholarship.
Edgecomb-Knight Fund — One $2,500 scholarship.
Prince Fund — Three scholarships totaling $6,200.
Young Fund — Seven $5,000 scholarships.
For the first time, the Chenard Family Scholarship — the legacy of educator and mentor Elaine Chenard — bestowed $5,000 scholarships to Emelia Bowie, Adryen Cummins, Nikolai Krebs, Colby Leavitt, Ashton Lyons, Garrett Mollica and Leonie Quimby.
For the academic year 2021-22, the Trustees have approved $102,000 for LAHS staff proposals. This includes funds for Arts Gala, Summer Institute, honors banquet, language programs and an investment of $35,000 for media lab/video production.
Additionally, the Barbara Fraser Csavinsky Fund will award $13,200 for SAT/MEA achievements. Finally, monies remain available for individual summer enrichment programs; interested parties may contact Mary Briggs for details.

The Trustees of Leavitt Institute support the needs of education over and above that provided by MSAD 52. Founded in 1901 by James Madison Leavitt, with an initial gift of $100,000, the Trustees currently manage approximately $10 million resulting from the generosity of many benefactors over the years. The money generatse financial support for many school activities and projects, including multiple scholarships, grants and prizes awarded each year to Leavitt students.
