UMA Mid-Century Moment Aug. 24 topic is ‘The Little Locksmith’

AUGUSTA – The University of Maine at Augusta’s Mid-Century Moment series will feature a discussion of “The Little Locksmith” author Katharine Butler Hathaway at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, via Zoom.
The discussion will feature Hathaway’s great-nephew Chris Austin, and Abby Clouse-Radigan, her biographer. It is free and open to the public, but registration is required at www.castinehistoricalsociety.org/events.
UMAis partnering with the Castine Historical Society on the program. The town of Castine inspired the 1943 book, which is a memoir about Hathaway’s disability and transformation once she bought a large historic Maine house into which she welcomed friends, family and lovers. Lisa Botshon, UMA professor of English, will moderate the discussion, which will include personal memories and slides by Austin.
