Sweden Food Pantry raises $1,800 in fundraiser

SWEDEN — Each year the Sweden Food Pantry sponsors a fundraiser in conjunction with Sweden Days, the first weekend in August, to raise money for the food pantry.
This year’s fundraiser, a 50/50, generated $1,800, and cards produced photographs by Tilla Durr were sold to benefit the pantry. Donations were also accepted.
Tom Bingham of Nutley, N.J., a seasonal Sweden resident, won $900 in the 50/50 and returned his winnings to the food pantry.
Linda Bradley, food pantry executive director, said, “We are neighbors helping neighbors. Tom’s decision to return his winnings to the Sweden Food Pantry allows us to do more for our clients.”
The Sweden Food Pantry is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the first and third Wednesday of the month. Located in the basement of the Sweden Community Church on Route 93, in the four corners area, it serves about 40 families representing about 120 individuals during each pantry opening. The pantry serves more than 11 communities, but the bulk of the families are from Bridgton, Fryeburg, Lovell, Sweden and Waterford
