Dead River schools alumni association meeting is Aug. 7

STRATTON — The 40th annual meeting of the Dead River Alumni Association will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Cathedral Pines picnic area in Eustis.
In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be held at the Stratton-Eustis Community Building.
Any former students of Flagstaff, Dead River, Stratton, Coplin Plantation, Langtown and Mount Abram schools are welcome to attend. Annual $5 per family dues may be paid when registration begins at 10 a.m.
Where else can you get together with the kids you went to school with, and with your parents and the kids they went to school with?
The day’s agenda will begin with a business meeting at 11 a.m. and will include:
* Recognition of teachers, past and present * Recognition of graduation anniversaries — 45th, 50th and 60th * Lunch * Dessert table, offering homemade goods, which funds the scholarship program * Scholarship awarded for 2020: none * Scholarship awarded for 2021: Meika Caron, of Coplin Plantation.
Don’t forget to make something for the dessert table. The money goes to the scholarship fund. Bring a folding chair. For those staying in the area, Cathedral Pines is hosting fireworks that evening.
Attendance of the meeting helps make sure the gathering will keep happening. The alumni committee includes Michael Hewett, president; Helen Targett, vice president; Cecile Newell, secretary; Mary Henderson, treasurer.
