Elder abuse task force will hold eighth annual Senior Resource Fair June 15

AUBURN — The Androscoggin Elder Abuse Task Force will be hosting its eighth annual Senior Resource Fair Thursday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at East Auburn Baptist Church, 560 Park Ave. In recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, this informative event will offer a chance to learn about local resources and services as well as provide an opportunity to socialize with fellow seniors.

The resource fair features a variety of speakers on various topics, including financial planning, advanced directives and planning for care as well as information tables from local organizations working with seniors. This year’s keynote speaker will be Peter Baker of the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine chapter; his presentation will be on “Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body: Tips from the Latest Research.”

The Senior Resource Fair is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Please contact Kelley at 795-6744 ext. 222 to sign up. Space is limited, so call soon to reserve a spot. A free lunch and morning refreshments will be provided, and prizes will be raffled off. This year’s resource fair is sponsored by United Ambulance, Community Credit Union, the Maine Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, Seniors Plus, the Alzheimer’s Association Maine Chapter and the Auburn Housing Authority.

The Androscoggin Elder Abuse Task Force is a community partnership dedicated to ending elder abuse, generating resources, educating the community, and advocating to meet the needs of elder abuse victims.
