Jun. 132021

LEWISTON — With Independence Day fast approaching, the city reminds residents that consumer fireworks can only be discharged at certain times, and sale of consumer fireworks in the city is prohibited.
On July 4, fireworks can only be set off between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. within a specific discharge area, which can be found on www.lewistonmaine.gov/fireworksusage.
In addition, the state of Maine requires that fireworks can only be set off on private property or with permission from a property owner. Those using, buying or possessing them must be 21 or older. Missile-type rockets, aerial spinners, bottle rockets, skyrockets and helicopters are prohibited in Maine.
The other days consumer fireworks can be set off in Lewiston are Dec. 21 from 10 a.m. to midnight and Jan. 1 from midnight to 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Lewiston fireworks use violations may be reported by calling 207-784-6421, option 1.
