Treat Memorial Library open, by appoitment, and other June news
LIVERMORE FALLS — Treat Memorial Library is now open for in-person visits, by appointment, and with safety measures in place. The library asks that patrons wear masks, regardless of vaccination status, to protect those who can’t be vaccinated, have not been vaccinated yet or are otherwise vulnerable.
Appointments for browsing and computer use will be for 30 minutes. Curbside service will continue for those who prefer it or cannot wear a mask.
Guidelines are:
1) Do not visit the library if you feel sick.
2) Face coverings requested.
3) Maintain at least 6 feet of distance.
4) Follow signs and directions for accessing materials.
5) No food or drinks, shopping bags, backpacks or extra items.
6) Visits are limited to 30 minutes.
7) Visits limited to one family member, if possible.
8) Return materials in the book drop before entering.
9) Sanitize hands upon entry and before leaving (sanitizer will be provided).
Patrons should be aware that there is some risk inherent in using shared spaces and shared materials.

The Summer Reading Program, Tails and Tales, begins Saturday, June 12. Register online at treat.beanstack.org or call the library at 207-897-3631. For every book read or hour reading, the library will donate an item to the food bank.
Solve the Mystery of the Cat Burglar to enter the grand prize drawing. Begining Thursday, June 17, clues will be revealed weekly on Facebook, posted at the library and featured in the email newsletter.
Late fees resume this month. The good news is, the library is also bringing back Food for Fines. For the month of June, the library will accept nonperishable canned or boxed food instead of fines. No matter what you owe, Food for Fines is your chance to start with a clean slate. This is for late fines only, not for lost or damaged items. All food collected will be taken to the local food bank.
Chretien and Sons Greenhouse, the winner of the 50/50 raffle, donated their winnings back to the library. The library thanks all who participated and supported the library.
The book club series Books About Books continues in June with “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society,” by Mary Ann Shaffer. Discussion will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 10. Contact staff for a copy of the book and the Zoom link.
Armchair Traveler Game is on Facebook at 1 p.m. every Tuesday. The library provides the continent, date, compass direction and weather. The rest of the journey is yours to decide.
Online Story Time is 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday, where staff shares some of their favorite picture books, rhymes, and songs. Books this summer will feature animals to go with the Summer Reading Program theme.
