AUBURN – The Auburn Recreation Dept. has scheduled live music and movies for the summer.
The Summer Movie Series kicks off June 11 and the Anniversary Park Acoustic Music Series begins June 29, as well as the return of the Auburn Community Band. All series are free and open to the public.
The movie series, which will run monthly through October, features seven movies each will take location in the city, with two drive-in style. Movies will begin near dusk — as soon as it is dark enough outside and will be shown on the city’s new 17-by-30-foot inflatable movie screen. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets and snacks to enjoy.
The schedule is:
Friday, June 11: “Grease,” 8:45 p.m., Anniversary Park
Friday, July 16: “Angels in the Outfield,” 8:45 p.m., Pettengill Softball Field
Friday, July 30: “Mighty Ducks,” 8:45 p.m. drive-in style, parking lot at Norway Savings Bank Arena
Friday, Aug. 13: “Aquaman,” (PG 13) 8:45 p.m. Lake Grove Park
Thursday, Sept. 16: “Tom and Jerry,” starting between 7-8 p.m., Chestnut Park
Saturday, Oct. 30: double feature, “Monsters, Inc.” at 6 p.m. and “Hocus Pocus” at 8 p.m., registration required, Great Falls Park.
The Anniversary Park Acoustic Music Series schedule is:
June 29: The Mike & Brian Duo, 6 p.m.
July 13: The Smith Collaboration, 6 p.m.
July 20: Double Entendre, 6 p.m.
July 27: Michael Krapovicky & Open Mic, 6 p.m.
The July 27 show will include four “open mic” spots. Those interested in participating may contact the recreation department at 207-333-6611.
The city’s Community Band is also back this year, at 7 p.m. Wednesday July 7 through Aug. 25 at Festival Plaza on Main Street.
Maine CDC COVID-19 protocols in effect at the time of the events will be followed.
