Mexico, Norway-area grads can get names ‘up in lights’

May. 72021

MEXICO — Oxford Federal Credit Union wants to help celebrate the class of 2021 in a unique way – by putting the names of graduates “up in lights” on the credit union’s roadside signs at their Mexico and Norway locations.
“Last spring, we created the Senior Spotlights as a special way to recognize the many graduating students who wouldn’t be having their typical long-awaited graduation day,” said Marketing Director Lisa Marston. “Maine Credit Unions happened to be doing a push for donations to the Campaign for Ending Hunger at the same time, to help with increasing need during the pandemic. So, I thought, ‘Why not combine the two?'”
In 2020, Oxford FCU raised $1,200 for the campaign with nearly 80 spotlights. For 2021, the fundraiser will work the same way. For a minimum donation of $10, Oxford FCU will put the name of a senior the donor would like to recognize, along with their school logo or mascot, into rotation on their road signs, starting on June 1 and running through June 18.
“Oxford FCU is excited to celebrate the class of 2021 this way – and the money raised will help ensure Maine families continue receiving the food they need,” Marston said.
