Community Credit Union members help recycle tons of waste

LEWISTON — Community Credit Union joined with several local organizations to recycle tons of electronics, tires and paper Saturday, April 15.

The purpose of Community Recycle Day was to highlight the importance of recycling and the collaboration of local organizations that offer recycling options to the community, the credit union said in a news release. Joining the credit union in the event were were e-Waste Recycling Solutions, Records Management, SHARECenter and Stratham Tire.

The effort took in 16,188 pounds of electronics, 50 tires and 2,873 pounds of paper for shredding, the release said.

“We got a lot of great items to put out for our members. We hope to be able to partner for the event again next year,” said Steve Gagne of SHARECenter.

Community Credit Union runs a “Do Your Part” program each quarter that encourages members to participate in recycling opportunities, including recycling cellphones and eye glasses.
