TURNER — Music for Mavis Tuesdays at the Gazebo will be back, starting May 25.
“We have missed you, we have missed our musical gatherings, and we have missed the wonderful music and community spirit,” the Gazebo Committee said in a news release. “We hope this news finds you healthy, enjoying many outdoor activities, and looking forward to a summer of music.
“This year has brought both unexpected joys and accomplishments, as well as fears, frustrations, difficulties, and tragedy. Let’s get together to celebrate our community!”
The hours will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. until Aug. 6, then 6 to 7:30 p.m. in September.
There will be a few changes this year to maintain public health:
* Sit with those you rode in with (or your pod) and establish and maintain at least a 6-foot distance from others.
* Respectfully make your needs known.
* Stay home and take care if you don’t feel well, or have possibly been exposed to the virus.
* There will be no rain venue. The program will probably carry on in the mist. Bring an umbrella if weather looks like it’ll be needed.
* Sound is good all the way to the playground and beyond.
* Help us make this work!
Masks are encouraged for entering and leaving the space, and when donating, for safety and comfort of both you and your neighbors. If you feel vulnerable or compromised please wear your mask full-time.
No one may approach the band or the gazebo. The committee said it is fortunate there are musicians who are able to play, but they must be kept safe.
A donation announcement will encourage sharing. In the past, the hat has been passed for donations, and that may still happen. There will also be a big milk can for donations near the entrance to the music field, near the parking lot. The committee asks that attendees donate generously so that programing can contiue. It is how the band is acknowledged, and lets the committee know people want music. Donations from the audience, as well as some business donations, are the only source of revenue for the program. There is no town money involved.
