Informational meeting planned for new after school arts program

RANGELEY — Rangeley Friends of the Arts will be implementing a new program for middle and high school students. An informational meeting for families wanting to learn more about CASA — the Creative After School Arts program — Monday, May 22, beginning at 6 p.m. at Lakeside Theater, 2493 Main St. Volunteers will be on-hand to talk about the program and answer questions; registration forms will be available.

CASA will begin in September 2017 for grades six through 12. It will coincide with the 40-week school year, from September to June, during after school hours, Monday through Friday, until 6 p.m. at the theater. CASA will be staffed by a qualified employee managing the daily operation.

There will be dance and movement workshops, WRGY will work with students interested in broadcasting and engineering, volunteers will provide workshops in theater performance and operations, music and performance, instruments, graphic art, fine arts and design, digital media, creative writing and community service.

There will be a nominal fee per semester and scholarships will be available. At CASA the boisterous extrovert and the shy introvert will feel at home in our diverse and accepting environment. Latch-key kids, artistic kids, ambitious kids, quiet kids and your kids will find a relaxed, healthy home-away-from-home where they can thrive.
