LEWISTON — SeniorsPlus is seeking new members for its advisory council to help advise on issues concerning older adults and Older Americans Act programs.
The Advisory Council provides the following key advocacy roles:
Serves as the eyes and ears of local older people and their caregivers;
Represents the interest of older people;
Identifies gaps in services for older people and provides recommendations for corrective action;
Reviews and comments on policies, programs, and actions that affect older people;
Acts in an advisory capacity, not a governing capacity;
May have opportunities to communicate with local, state and federally elected officials, make community presentations, and provide testimony at public hearings.
The SeniorsPlus Advisory Council meets five times a year and members must live in Androscoggin, Franklin or Oxford counties, the three counties served by SeniorsPlus. Meetings are currently held via Zoom.
