Auburn UU will celebrate 15 years of open mic night March 12

Feb. 282021

AUBURN — The Pleasant Note Coffeehouse will celebrate the 15th anniversary of its Open Mic & Poetry Slam at the First Universalist Church Friday, March 12.
Since 2006, this free monthly show has drawn people of all ages who share the spirituality of music and spoken word. During the past year, the show has seamlessly adapted to Zoom platform.
Guitars and singers are to be expected, yet Open Mic has welcomed belly dancers, poets, rappers, storytellers and dogs performing over the years. Participants say they like this monthly forum for the focus on the performers.
Residents may recall about 10 years ago, a musical “scene” had sprung up around Cafe Bon Bon in Lewiston. When the cafe closed, some members of the First Universalist Church of Auburn decided to provide an outlet for all that creative energy. Pleasant Note Cofeehouse has continued on for 15 years, consistently attracting new performers and developing regulars.
Pleasant Note Coffeehouse presents its Open Mic & Poetry Slam the second Friday of each month at 7:30 p.m. See the Auburn UU Facebook page or zoom.us/j/206058928, Password: 500681.
