Ski races to benefit Maine Ski and Snowboard Museum set for March

KINGFIELD — A giant slalom ski race and 5K Nordic sprint to benefit the Maine Ski and Snowboard Museum will be held March 11 and 13.
The fourth annual Legends GS Race is set for Thursday, March 11, on the Boris Badenov trail at Mount Abram in Locke Mills. The two-run giant slalom race begins at 1 p.m.
The first annual Tom Kendall Nordic Legends 5K begins at 1 p.m. Saturday March 13, at Black Mountain in Rumford. The course will be set for classic and freestyle skiing. Nordic skiers may ski either discipline or both for the single-run sprint race.
The races are open to men and women ages 50 and older. Divisions are men and women age 50-59, 60-69 and 70-plus. Winners in each division will get medals at the post-race awards celebrations. A Ski-Meister trophy for a man and woman will be presented to the best overall skier in alpine and Nordic combined.
Sponsors Kittery Trading Post and Rossignol will be on hand with demo skis and a warming tent.
