AUGUSTA — Cub Scout Pack 603 of Augusta and Windsor celebrated First Responder Day at the state capitol, with the support of the Augusta Fire Department, Capitol and Augusta police departments.
At the ceremony, held at the firefighters’ memorial on State Street, next to the State House, Bear Den Scouts Cooper Selwood and Tristan Morton properly presented the flag, Wolf Cub Elizabeth Blais led the Pledge of Allegiance, all available Scouts placed battery votive candles during the Scout Law. After a moment of silence, the gathering was led in a prayer by Bear Cub Tristan Morton.
Particularly impressive was the response of the Fire Department to a call at the start of the ceremony, when the Scouts could first-hand see the professionalism of the pumper truck as it departed and safely sped to its duties.
